Motherhood is a journey of love, strength, and transformation. As mothers, we give so much of ourselves—our time, our energy, our hearts—to nurture and care for our families. But how often do we pause to celebrate our own stories, our own moments of grace and beauty?

As a London Maternity and Newborn Photographer, I believe every mother deserves to be seen, cherished, and celebrated. Through timeless photography, I help mums preserve the quiet, tender moments and powerful emotions that define this extraordinary chapter of life.

Why We Should Celebrate Mothers Every Day

While Mother’s Day is a beautiful reminder to show love and gratitude, I believe we should celebrate mothers every single day. The love you give, the patience you show, and the strength you carry deserve recognition—not just one day a year.

And yet, as mums, we often find ourselves behind the camera rather than in front of it. We focus on capturing our children’s milestones but forget that we, too, are part of the story.

My Personal Story: Why These Moments Matter

I don’t have many photos of my own mother when she was pregnant with me. I often wish I had more glimpses into that beautiful time. But there’s one photo I hold close to my heart. She’s decorating the Christmas tree, with my older brother’s help, just weeks before I was born. You can feel the anticipation, the love, the quiet excitement of waiting for something wonderful.

That photo tells a story—the very beginning of mine. And that’s what I want to create for you.
Photographs that tell the story of your motherhood. Photos your children will treasure, seeing the love and beauty that surrounded them even before they were born.

You Are Doing an Amazing Job, Mum

Whether you’re a first-time mum figuring things out, a seasoned mother juggling life, or someone hoping to become a parent one day—you are doing an amazing job.

Maybe this journey looks different for each of us:
🌿 Some of you are growing your babies, feeling them move for the first time.
🌿 Some are caring for little ones, soaking in every cuddle.
🌿 Some of you are navigating loss, carrying hope, or remembering those you’ve loved deeply.
Wherever you are on your journey, you are enough. You are strong. And you are worthy of celebration.

Timeless Photos That Celebrate Your Story

In every maternity and newborn session I capture, my goal is to tell your story. To freeze moments of connection, tenderness, and strength, so that years from now, you and your children can look back and feel the love that surrounded you.

Whether it’s the quiet joy of a newborn snuggle, the excitement of seeing your growing bump, or the connection shared with your partner or older children—these are memories worth holding on to.

I’ve gathered some of my favourite portraits of mothers and babies into a little video. It’s a love letter to all the amazing mums I’ve had the honour of photographing.

“The womb we carry has embraced a thousand souls within, souls which have crossed generations into the world of spirit and those souls which have yet to be born. We do not just carry our own seeds to fertilise, we carry the seeds of many. The child that is borne unto us belongs as much to us as it does to each member of the ‘tribe’ we are connected with. We all become mothers, whether or not we actually have children in this lifetime. And we all are given the opportunity to impart the feminine aspects of the Divine in whichever ways we are called to serve. We all share the same mother, through lineages, parallel realities, prior incarnations, and the love of the Creator. The Divine Feminine is the most magical evolutionary aspect of the Creator, born to receive both God and Goddess, born to impart both God and Goddess in all realms of existence. We are the Sanctuary upon which the Divine rests and then when called to, pours forth into this wayward world seeds of healing and grace personified. We are truth embodied in Creation. In honour of the Divine Feminine, may our wombs be joyous, peaceful and free.
And in honour of my own mother Marie, I couldn’t have asked for a better mother to nourish me in her womb and bring me into a world where I could love and be loved.”

After 15 years, so much of what I do is on autopilot.

I look for the gorgeous light and read the baby. I know when to wait and when to act. And I do it without thinking.

But the moment someone is beside me, watching, learning, everything slows down. I have to find words for things I stopped noticing years ago. And in doing that, I remember how it felt at the beginning. The insecurities. The fear of getting it wrong. The weight of feeling like you should already know. The comparison with others.

Teaching reminds me how much courage it takes to learn something new and how gently we should treat ourselves while we do.

If you are starting out, in any field, well done. Truly. I know how hard and lonely those first steps can be. But you don’t have to take them alone.

And if you are a photographer thinking about a one to one newborn training day in my Twickenham studio,I would love to be part of your journey.

She knew exactly what she wanted to say.
My job was simply to hold the space and let her say it.

This is what a portrait session can be.
Not a makeover or a way to fit an idea of beauty. But a conversation between a woman and her own story, made visible.

Dyana is an artist, activist and doula. She explores identity, the body, and everything that lives between and beyond definition.

I am grateful I had the chance to photograph her.

Tomorrow I have a newborn session and a 1:1 training day with a photographer travelling from Switzerland to spend the day with me. But before any of that, the work had already started. It starts with a conversation. Learning about your birth, your family, how things have been since you came home. Then comes the studio prep, making sure the space is warm, clean and ready for someone very new to the world, with attention to every small thing that makes a family feel safe and held. After 15 years, this is still how I do it. Every time. That same care is what I pass on when I teach. The woman in these photos? She was there all along.
