June-Inspired Baby Names

1. June

  • Meaning: Named after the month
  • Origin: Latin
  • It comes from the name of the month, which derives from Juno, the name of a Roman goddess, the protector and special counsellor of the state. The name June was a very popular name for girls in the United States during the 1920s and 1930s, and it has remained popular ever since.

2. Juno

  • Meaning: Queen of the gods
  • Origin: Latin
  • In Greek mythology, Juno is the goddess of love and marriage, making it a fitting choice for a baby girl born in June. It’s a strong, regal name that’s both unique and powerful. Juno (2007) was the name of a film, starring Ellen Page, about a young woman dealing with an unplanned pregnancy.

3. Pearl

  • Meaning: Precious gemstone
  • Origin: Latin
  • Pearl, a Latin-origin feminine name, carries a precious symbolism, much like the rare gems found in oysters and molluscs. Pearl is the birthstone for June, symbolising purity and innocence. It’s a vintage name that’s making a comeback.

4. Alexandra

  • Meaning: Defender of man
  • Origin: Greek
  • Alexandra is inspired by the June birthstone Alexandrite. It’s a timeless and elegant name with a rich history. Queen Alexandra of Denmark and actress Alexandra Daddario are famous bearers of this name.

5. Alexander

  • Meaning: Man’s defender, warrior
  • Origin: Greek
  • Alexander, like Alexandra, is inspired by Alexandrite. It’s the Latin form of the Greek name Alexandros. It’s a strong, classic name that has been popular for centuries. Historical figures like Alexander the Great and modern celebrities like Alexander Skarsgård bear this name proudly.

6. Luna

  • Meaning: Moon
  • Origin: Latin
  • Inspired by June’s third birth stone, moonstone. In Roman mythology, she was the goddess of the moon, often shown driving a white chariot across the sky— a brave and independent spirit. It’s a magical name that has become increasingly popular in recent years. I chose it for my dog 😉

7. Summer

  • Meaning: Summer season
  • Origin: English
  • The meaning is pretty straightforward but it also has a more metaphorical meaning too, as it’s seen as a time of growth and new beginnings, a time when the world is full of life and energy. In Old English literature, summer was often associated with growth and fertility.

8. Rose

  • Meaning: Flower
  • Origin: Latin
  • Background: Rose is one of the birth flowers of June, symbolising love and beauty. It’s a timeless and elegant name that never goes out of style.

9. Ray

  • Meaning: Ray of sunshine, counselor
  • Origin: English

10. Honey

  • Meaning: Nectar, darling, sweetie
  • Origin: Old English
  • Derived from the sweet fragrance of honeysuckle, one of June’s birth flowers, exudes warmth and tenderness, making it a delightful choice for your June baby. A few celebrities used this name for their children: actress Kate Winslet, chef Jamie Oliver, and TV presenter Fearne Cotton.

11. Sia

  • Meaning: ‘Six’ in Scottish Gaelic
  • Origin: Scottish Gaelic
  • Sia, meaning ‘six,’ pays homage to June being the sixth month of the year. It’s a unique and meaningful name that reflects the timing of your baby’s arrival. We all know the famous singer-songwriter Sia.

12. Arun

  • Meaning: The colour of the sky before dawn
  • Origin: Indian
  • A boy’s name that means ‘sun’ in Hindi. June is the beginning of summer here in the UK, so what better way to celebrate your baby’s summer birthday than with a sunny name?

Choosing the perfect name for your baby can be a delightful yet daunting task. Names carry weight and meaning, often reflecting cultural heritage, personal preferences, and sometimes even the season of birth. As a London newborn photographer, I often get asked about interesting names I’ve encountered during my sessions. It’s always a pleasure to see the variety and uniqueness of the names chosen by parents.

I like Luna, Summer and Sia. Which one is your favourite?

I jumped on a spontaneous live today, because sometimes, why not?

And I had the best reason for it… to talk about Milk Tales. 🙌🏻

This book means the world to me, and sharing it live (even with wobbly nerves and unbrushed hair!) felt right.

So grateful for everyone who tuned in and cheered me on, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

If you are interested in the book, the link is in my bio or DM me and I'll send it to you.
What if one book could say: “I see you. I’ve been there”?

I haven’t been posting much lately, because behind the scenes, I’ve been pouring all my energy into something that truly matters to me.

The book is finally done. Uploaded. Ready.

But this phase? It’s a different kind of work.

Now, I’m reaching out. Emailing, writing, pitching, trying to place this book into hands and platforms that could really help share it.

Because I believe in it.

Not for me, but for the voices within it.

Milk Tales isn’t just a book.

It’s a mirror for mothers who felt unseen.

A space for stories that deserve to be heard.

So no, I’m not “doing it all.” (Also becasue I have my business to run)

But I’m doing what matters, with heart.

🤍
P.S. If you know someone who might want to feature, share, or support this project, I’d love to connect.
    After three rounds of printing...

three envelopes opened with hope...

and three quiet disappointments!

I almost didn’t film this one.

But I did.

Because this time, it felt different.

The small tweaks, the colours, the paper,
they’re still not exactly how I envisioned them.

The photo quality isn’t perfect.

But the message they carry? That part is.

And that’s what matters most.

It took four proofs.

Four rounds of edits, questions, and “maybe this isn’t ready.”

Still seen through a critical lens…

but this time, I finally let myself feel it: Pride.

Milk Tales is a book made with love, with stories that deserve to be seen.

And releasing it during World Breastfeeding Week couldn’t feel more right.

✨ Available from the 1st of August.

I can’t wait to share it with you.

One thing’s for sure: this book is one of the things I’m most proud of.

But the process?

Cry. Laugh. Repeat.

I’ve reviewed it so many times I’ve lost count.

And sometimes… I genuinely don’t know what I meant in a line I once thought was brilliant.

Creating Milk Tales wasn’t just about photography or stories, it was about pouring my whole heart (and probably a few brain cells) into something that matters.

Because this book means something. To me. And, I hope, to the mums who read it.

Coming soon.

Drop a 🤍 if you’re excited too, I can’t wait to share more with you.
